On Thursday, October 17, Golden Valley based author Joshua Moehling will discuss his writing and read from his hit Ben Packard mystery series. His 2022 debut book was And There He Kept Her and was a 2023 Lambda Literary Award nominee for Best Mystery and selected as best mystery in June 2022 by both Apple and Amazon editors, and was a Barnes and Noble “Our Monthly Pick” in January 2023.
His second book, Where the Dead Sleep has been reviewed by the New York Times, and the Associated Press. It was also nominated for a 2024 Lambda Literary Award and was Target’s January 2024 Book Club selection. It received high praise from author William Kent Krueger, who says, “with Where the Dead Sleep, Joshua Moehling solidifies his place as one of the best new voices in the mystery genre.”
The Ben Packard series of books takes place in a small-town northern Minnesota and surrounding area. Any readers familiar with the beauty of “up North” will be able to imagine the small-town setting and the captivating, detailed scenery.
The third book in the series, A Long Time Gone, will be released on February 4, 2025.
Joshua Moehling grew up as an Army brat and moved all over the U.S. and Germany. After attending college in South Dakota and Mankato, MN, he moved to Minneapolis and began a career in the medical device industry.
