Planning the upcoming Camden Prom

A group of volunteers from the Class of 2024, with the guidance of Camden High’s Public Relations Coordinator Marcus Zackery, is responsible for planning this year’s prom titled “Springtime in Paris.” However, the event will not be held in Europe but in the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley. Attendees will gather on May 10 surrounded by images of the French city immersed in pastels.

Seniors and juniors coming from Camden High School and Fair School are welcomed. They may be accompanied by underclassmates or students from other schools. Prom dates from other schools will have arranged permission by their respective principals. Tickets this year are $80 a couple and $50 a single.

As has been the tradition of the past, a queen, a king, and attendants will be chosen.  The process for students to become a candidate and to vote is to use the Google form on the Internet which will reach Mr. Zackery. As always there will be a grand march and crowning of the royalty.

A photo booth and a 360-degree camera will “be in the house.” For those of you that are not familiar with a 360-degree camera, it is an omnidirectional camera having a field of view that covers a large sphere. A half-dozen people can stand on a circular rotating platform and be photographed together.

Music will be provided by a disc jockey named JT who has worked at Northside establishments Nellie Stone Johnson School and Beacons in the past. The Senior Student Planning Committee has ordered chicken, sliders, fries, egg rolls, fruit and desserts from D’Amico and Sons Catering for the event.

Their shout out to their classmates is, “Have fun! And turn it up!”
