On Tuesday August 16, 2022 the Minneapolis School Board voted unanimously to direct Patrick Henry High School to begin the name change process and to bring forward recommendation for a new name. According to the resolution, “students, staff, and community members recognize the need for a school name that better represents the values of the community.”
Henry High students and staff have been working on that name change/process, and things have really progressed. Students of the committee designed the ‘voter’s guide’ using information provided by individuals who made nominations. Each Henry grade level has had an assembly in which all students received access to the voter’s guide. After discussion and questions, each student had the opportunity to enter three votes. Further steps in the process during May will be posted on the Henry High website.
In the meantime, they ask for the whole community to vote in May for your favorite name! Go to the Henry website, henry.mpls.k12.mn.us/.
