News from Henry High School

Some of a few from the Henry Drama Club

The 2021-22 school year began with Henry staff forming small groups, spreading out into the Northside community, knocking on doors of incoming students, welcoming them to the upcoming open house and barbeque. The following week students, families, neighbors and staff joined together in the school parking lot for the annual Henry High Open House & Barbeque on September 2. The meet and greet was attended by many individuals happy to be together after months of separation due to the COVID pandemic.

Henry High School returned to in-school learning on September 8 with all staff and students masking. Those choosing to not attend classes in the building have the option to enroll in the Minneapolis School District’s program for on-line classes.

Clubs and after-school activities are beginning at Henry, enriching the lives of students and staff.  Prior to the pandemic, Henry High staff and community partners offered dozens of opportunities for students to participate in. Several of these groups eagerly gathered on September 10, hosting tables at the 25th Anniversary of First Friday. (This event is held annually on the first Friday of every Henry High school opening.) Hosts answered questions about their organization and classmates signed up for future meetings of individuals interested in chess, track, anime, games, French Club, Asian Culture Club, men’s volleyball, Project Success, College Possible, Northside Achievement Zone, Green Team, student council, Beacons Boys and Girls Club, Gay Straight Alliance, and more.

Coming up: Homecoming will be Saturday, October 2, 1 p.m., at the Henry High School Athletic Field where the opponent will be St. Paul’s Harding/Humboldt High School football team.
