Legends @ the Capri has delivered fabulous music, amazing talent and much joy to audiences at the Capri in the heart of North Minneapolis for 12 years. This fall, Artistic Director Dennis Spears is bringing Legendsback with a master-crafted season of music.
Here’s the line-up:
October 9, 10, 2021: The Big Swang Theory features vocalists Charmin Michelle, Judy Vinar and Dennis W. Spears, backed by The Wolverines Jazz Quartet. “This is the way season one of Legends began in 2009, and we’re back to ‘swang’ even harder,” said Spears. “We can’t wait to sing for you and see you at this first Legends concert in our swingin’ new space in North Minneapolis.”
January 29, 30, 2022: Sanford Moore’s Recital in Paradisefeatures Sanford Moore on piano, in-the-round, in the Capri’s new Paradise Community Hall. Moore will be playing everything from classical, to jazz, to gospel, and a whole lot in between.
March 19, 20, 2022: Beyond Legend’s Rainbow. Over the 12 seasons of Legends, we’ve lost some incredible musicians who once graced our stage. This show pauses to pay tribute to the musical stylings and lives well lived by Jeanne Arland Peterson, Irv Williams, Debbie Duncan and Yolande Bruce. (Performing artists to be announced.)
May 28, 29, 2022: Let’s Go Crazytakes the Capri audience on a musical journey honoring Prince, Chaka Kahn and many funk legends, with vocalist Julius Collins and special guest, Jamecia Bennett. It’s the season of a Purple Reign!
