There’s a new live music series happening here in the neighborhood called Live @ the Library. It’s happening at North Regional Library at the corner of Lowry and Fremont. Richelieu Morris, a rapper, producer, and Brooklyn Park library worker who lives in the neighborhood, is booking the series. We’re kicking it off on Sunday, May 5 from 3-4 p.m. and continuing it on the first Sunday of each month.
The highly talented Tearra Oso (pictured), an Afro-Caribbean electro-pop singer, dancer and drummer, will help launch the series on May 5. Oso produces a modern take on Bomba, the music her African ancestors brought with them. Oso also has Mexican roots and will review what happened on Cinco de Mayo in Mexico at the Battle of Puebla (Batalla de Puebla). Sample her music at soundcloud.com/tearraso.
Here’s the basic info for our upcoming Live @ the Library events: May 5 – Tearra Oso – Afro-Caribbean electro-pop singer and dancer. June 2 – Zhané – singer/songwriter, dancer, choreographer, actress, and co-founder/member of New Black City dance crew. July 7 – MC Longshot – well-seasoned and professional hip hop artist and producer.
