SPCO Chamber Music Series presents Familial Music

 

 

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (SPCO) continues the ninth season of its Chamber Music Series @ the Capri with Familial Music at 7 p.m. Friday, March 22 at the Capri, 2027 West Broadway. SPCO Music Alive Composer-in-Residence Lembit Beecher’s piece Small Looking Up, about looking up to his older brother, is featured in this program about family. The program also includes a woodwind quintet composed by SPCO Principal Horn James Ferree, written for the birth of his nephew, and a string quartet Robert Schumann wrote for his wife Clara’s 23rd birthday. Summer Music for Wind Quintet by Samuel Barber rounds out the concert program for the evening.

 

One more SPCO chamber music concert is scheduled at the Capri this season: Modern Renaissance, featuring SPCO musicians as composers and arrangers, at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10.  This concert is part of the Six Days in May celebration at the Capri, May 7-12, after which the theater will be closed for construction of a 20,000 square foot renovation and expansion. Capri programming, including the SPCO Chamber Music Series @ the Capri, will be held at alternate locations during the closure.
