We are excited about the 2018-2019 School Year! There will be some exciting changes happening at the school this year. We want to keep our community in the loop about “Happenings at Henry.”
Construction update. If you drive past Henry High School you will notice we are making changes! We are creating a very welcoming entryway, equipping the building with air conditioning, along with new bathrooms and lighting! Due to construction needs, the building will be closed until Monday August 20. Our clerical staff will be at Olson Middle School starting August 13 and will officially return to the Henry school building on August 20.
Wednesday, August 1 from 5-7 p.m. Registration for fall sports (football, soccer, volleyball, women’s tennis, cross country) will take place in the Henry High gymnasium. Students are required to have a physical exam in order to participate in athletics. The Minnesota State High School League provides sports physicals at three locations. Students must have parent/guardian permission to register for a physical at tria.com/events/mshsl-physicals. If questions about physicals arise contact sportsmedicine@tria.com. Contact our Athletic Director, Kenny Maxey at Kenneth.Maxey@mpls.k12.mn.us with any other questions about fall sports.
Thursday, August 23 from 5-7 p.m. Join us for the Henry High School Community Back to School BBQ where we invite our feeder schools (Loring, Jenny Lind, Hmong International Academy and Olson Middle School) staff and families to join us for food, activities and amazing performances. We encourage our community members to attend as well. During our Back to School BBQ students can pick up schedules, pick up their bus cards, and connect with their teachers and staff for the 2018-2019 school year! Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Quinton Bonds at Quinton.Bonds@mpls.k12.mn.us or 612-251-7779.
Monday, August 27. Students return to Henry for the first day of school. The school day goes from 8:05 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. We encourage students to come early to pick up their official schedule and get in the habit of getting a free well-balanced breakfast at school. Families can check out henry.mpls.k12.mn.us for a list of suggested school materials for the school year.
Friday, October 12. Homecoming Parade & Game against Central High School. We will provide an update on the details for the events surrounding PHHS Homecoming 2018!
Our principal, Yusuf Abdullah would like to focus on continuing to build a productive climate, strengthening our classrooms, and the collaboration between our school, families and community. When thinking about the 2018-2019 school year Abdullah says, “We are strengthening our school so that our scholars can blossom and be leaders of tomorrow.”
