Javier Trejo closes out Live on the Drive!

The annual Northside summer concert series Live on the Drive finishes its eighth year with singer and songwriter Javier Trejo. The final concert will take place on Thursday, August 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a wonderful live music show on the scenic Victory Memorial Drive at 34th Ave. N., one of the most beautiful concert settings in the city.

Born in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico and raised on St. Paul, Minnesota’s “Westside,” Trejo is a local artist with international roots. Javier’s musical influences range from old-school country and Tejano music to R&B and Rock ‘n’ Roll. His self-titled album presents Bossa Pop original songs inspired by the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jerry Garcia, Manu Chao, Arto Lindsay, Flaming Lips, David Gray and RL Burnside. Javier Trejo’s songs transcend genres to create an intimate sound that seduces the listener.

Come with an appetite and enjoy dinner from food vendors — The Lowry Café, Mama Donato’s Woodfired Pizza and Sandy’s, and treat yourself to gelato from Nonna Rosa’s. Stay into the evening for a movie in the park featuring The Blind Side at dusk, right at the Live on the Drive concert site. Our “green” events feature recycling and composting, diverting 93 percent of materials out of the waste stream last year alone. Be sure to invite your neighbors and bring your friends to this family-friendly, all-ages event!

Live on the Drive draws people together from across the Northside and throughout the greater Twin Cities to hear extraordinary music and to celebrate summer, good health and Northside city living. Already this summer nearly 3000 people have come out to see our incredible slate of Minneapolis-based musicians. The slate this summer: jazz vocalist Debbie Duncan (June 11), Hip-Hop Artist Toki Wright (July 9), and Guitarist Javier Trejo (August 13). Food vendors and Movies in the Park are back to finish out each concert night: Diary of a Wimpy Kid (June 11), We Bought a Zoo (July 9), and The Blind Side (August 13). Our Artist Spotlights during intermission, and more, round out what has become a staple of summer on the Northside.
