2015-16 Legends series features – Yolande Bruce, Julius Collins, Maud Hixon, Arne Fogel and Cameron Wright

Season tickets went on sale July 6 for the 2015-16 Legends season at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway. Artistic Director Dennis Spears has created an exciting, eclectic mix of music for the three-concert series beginning with B3 Blues featuring Yolande Bruce and Julius Collins at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 3 p.m. on Nov. 15.

Maud Hixon, Arne Fogel and the Wolverines Jazz Trio perform Let’s Not Be Sensible: A Tribute to Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby, at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 and 3 p.m. Feb. 14. The series concludes with Superstitious Thriller, A Jazzy Tribute to Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson at 7 p.m. April 23 and 3 p.m. April 24.

Season tickets for all three shows are $60 (a $15 savings over single ticket prices), and are available at thecapritheater.org or 612-343-3390.

B3 Blues will deliver the best of the “Bs” – BB King, Bobby “Blue” Bland and Brook Benton – among other tantalizing blues artists – in a blues club setting, with a Hammond B3 organist backing up vocalists Yolande Bruce and Julius Collins who will certainly stir souls. “If you miss this one, you’ll really be blue,” says Spears.

In Let’s Not Be Sensible, Maud Hixon and Arne Fogel bring the music of Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney to the Capri stage in a theatrical style that will evoke the times in which Crosby’s and Clooney’s recordings reigned. The Wolverines Jazz Trio will add to this atmosphere for a magical, memory-making concert.

Superstitious Thriller pairs legendary Twin Cities jazz artist and arranger, Jay Young, with Cameron Wright, a young and talented, up-and-coming North Minneapolis singer. With Young’s jazz arrangements and Wright’s vocal stylings, Capri audiences will hear the much-loved music of Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder in an entirely new, jazzy way.

“With each one of these shows, there will be something that will move you, surprise you and tickle your fancy,” said Spears. Legends artists shine in the intimate setting of the Capri Theater, home to this music series since 2007.
