Legends @ the Capri closes its ninth season with a tantalizing tribute to two multi-talented and fascinating entertainers, Judy Garland and Bette Midler. Judy! You Bette!, featuring none other than Erin Schwab, opens at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 22 and returns at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23 at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway.
Schwab will treat you to a delightful mixture of music and storytelling centered in her love and admiration for both singers. “Judy Garland and Bette Midler inspired me to sing music. They are the reason I do what I do,” says Schwab.
You can expect to see a dynamic, heartfelt show filled with moving renditions of some of the Midler and Garland classics – “Somewhere Over the Rainbow, of course, you just have to do,” says Schwab – but also some rare pieces that may surprise you.
Schwab will be on stage with a trio of musicians including her long-time music director and pianist, Jay Fuchs. And she will have stories to tell. “Part of my connection to these singers is that they’re both brilliant storytellers. They spoke their minds and they weren’t afraid to show their vulnerabilities either,” says Schwab. “They’re brave and awesome singers – and it’s a great joy and honor for me to bring their music and stories to the Legends stage.”
