Capri Glee! youth and adult choirs, under the direction of Dennis Spears and J.D. Steele, begin rehearsals the week of April 10 at the Capri – and you’re invited to join in the abundant fun of singing with others.
“Music connects and creates communities,” says J.D. Steele, Director of the adult Capri Glee! choir.
In addition, adults in choirs experience reduced levels of stress and anxiety, and young singers gain valuable skills like self-discipline, self-confidence, creativity and focus.
One other nice thing about Capri Glee!: The short six-week session makes it possible for singers to join the choirs without making a huge time commitment.
Capri Glee! Youth After-School Choir: Grades K-5, 2:30-3:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, April 10-May 15. Free! Concert at 7 p.m., May 16. Children sing joyful, fun, age-appropriate music and learn new music skills under the direction of Dennis Spears.
Capri Glee! Adult Community Choir: Ages 18 and up, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, April 11-May 16. Free or pay as you can. Concert at 7 p.m., May 16. Director J.D. Steele delves into unusual genres such as Brazilian-style music, East African chants, old-world spirituals, and old-school ‘70s music popularized by Motown and Philadelphia Soul, among others.
