32nd Annual Minneapolis National Night Out
National Night Out Tuesday, August 4
Planning for this year’s National Night Out has begun! It is free to participate and when you register your event, you will get free Mystery Point Passes for Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America. Register your event online at minneapolismn.gov/nno/nno_register or by calling 311. If you want to block your street, you can do so for free through July 21 (not all streets can be blocked, depending on traffic flow). From July 22- 29, there is a $100 fee. After July 29 no applications for blocking off a street will be allowed. Last year Minneapolis ranked number one for registered NNO block events. Help make Minneapolis number one again! Hennepin County hosting Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events
Hennepin County residents can safely dispose of unwanted garden and household hazardous wastes during a series of community collection events. All sites will be open to the public from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. The Minneapolis events will be held July 9-11 at 340 27th Ave NE and August 20-22 at 3607 44th St. E. (Public Works Garage). The Aquatennial is the official civic celebration of Minneapolis, dubbed the best days of summer! Entering its 76th year, the summer festival has something for everyone ranging from the Twin Cities River Rats water ski show, to the coveted Torchlight Parade and Most Amazing Race, there are many great and diverse events happening throughout the celebration. Minneapolis Youth Coordinating Board launches Activity Finder
The Minneapolis Youth Coordinating Board’s Minneapolis Afterschool Network has launched its citywide program finder. What’s Up 612! (whatsup612.com) is an online resource of things to do in Minneapolis where youth, parents, educators and youth workers can find after-school and summer activities for children and youth ages 5-21. What’s Up 612! brings together after-school opportunities offered by the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minneapolis Public Schools, Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Board and community organizations.
