Cleveland

New Executive Director

I am pleased to announce that Kristel Porter joined us on August 8 as the new Cleveland Neighborhood Association Executive Director.

Kristel comes to us most recently from Northpoint, Inc. where she served as an Empowerment Coach, and from Resource, Inc. where she served as a Career Counselor. She holds a B.S. in Political Science from Augsburg College, and an A.A.S. in General Business Management from North Dakota State College of Science. She is also involved in many community based efforts including the Wirth Cooperative Grocery Store, Northside Resident Redevelopment Council, United Black Legislative Agenda and the Northside Greenway Council.

She has already hit the ground running and you will hear more from her directly in the coming weeks ahead. We are very excited to have her on board. Please join me in welcoming Kristel to our organization.

Jonathan Palmer, Cleveland Neighborhood Association Board Chair

Open Streets on West Broadway, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, September 10

Since our 2nd Live on the Drive event was cancelled due to rain, and the rain date was cancelled due to rain, we were able to collaborate with the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition to have #MPLS have another stab at performing for the Northside. We are very excited about this event for two reasons: #MPLS is an amazing band; and Cleveland Neighborhood Association’s ability to collaborate with the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition and West Broadway Coalition on their Open Streets event (now on its sixth year) on West Broadway for the first time ever! #MPLS will be performing in front of the Capri Theatre from 1-3 p.m. We look forward to seeing all of our neighbors there!

Upcoming Cleveland Neighborhood meetings at 3333 Penn: Crime and Safety Committee, September 5 at 6:30 p.m.; Events Committee Meeting, Thursday, September 8 at 6:30 p.m.; Community Development Committee Meeting, Monday September 12 at 6:30 p.m.; and Board Meeting: September 19 at 7 p.m.
