Shingle Creek and Victory Neighborhood Organizations approve merger

Written by Rachel Bundy

On March 1, members of both the Shingle Creek Neighborhood Association and the Victory Neighborhood Association voted to merge their organizations into a single, unified entity now known as the Shingle Creek Victory Council. Driven by extensive community input and months of discussion, this historic decision aims to create a stronger voice for local residents and expand opportunities for programming, engagement and collective impact.

Stronger together through shared amenities: The Shingle Creek Neighborhood offers abundant environmental treasures like the creek itself and nearby parks that foster outdoor recreation, conservation projects and community events. The Victory Neighborhood brings vibrant commercial corridors, the historic Victory Memorial Drive, and a longstanding sense of community pride that is evident in its popular events, youth programs and volunteer-led beautification projects.
By uniting their complementary resources, volunteer bases, and unique neighborhood identities, the newly formed Shingle Creek Victory Council is poised to serve residents more effectively and broaden the reach of its initiatives.

A new era of collaboration: Leaders from both neighborhoods emphasized that this merger is about honoring each community’s heritage while embracing the potential for fresh ideas and projects. The Shingle Creek Victory Council will: Coordinate neighborhood programs and events that highlight current committees and events to serve both neighborhoods; combine organizational resources to provide stronger advocacy, expanded volunteer opportunities and more inclusive engagement with residents; and encourage local business growth by reaching across the entire merged geography, offering greater visibility and unified promotions.
“We are thrilled to move forward as the Shingle Creek Victory Council,” said a joint statement from the chairs of both boards. “By coming together, we’re able to amplify our voices and invest in projects that matter most to our neighbors. We look forward to discovering new ways to connect, celebrate and collaborate.”

Next steps: Over the coming weeks and months, the Shingle Creek Victory Council will finalize operational details, including board structure, committee memberships and upcoming community events. Residents are encouraged to stay involved, share ideas and attend future meetings as the new organization takes shape.
