Minnesota Renewable Now (MRN) establishes relationships and builds bridges around Minneapolis (with a focus on North and South Minneapolis Green Zones) in order to preserve the planet for future generations.
Our goal is for the world to become 100 percent renewable without having to depend on fossil fuels or any other dangerous forms of energy production where drilling or mining is the continuous source of energy dependency.
Last month, we kicked off our first youth video challenge, and it was an amazing way to wrap up the year with some incredible youth! The youth had two weeks to work on their projects and then presented them. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to build relationships, especially since they all attend different schools. Next up: Our exciting new project on green careers! The youth will choose a green career that interests them and create a video highlighting its importance and the benefits it offers to society. Stay tuned for their creative insights. Find info at mnrenewablenow.org/power-north.
Affordable Solar Program applications are open! If you are looking for ways to improve your home or save money on your utility bill, then join Affordable Solar. We know that solar panels can be very expensive to get, that is why by joining the program you do not have to worry about any financial burdens, because we will ensure the process goes smooth.
What is the process? 1. First, you must complete the pre-application. Which takes less than 10 minutes. The pre-application gives us everything we need in advance, so that the process is quicker. 2. A roof inspection is set up, where a contractor will come and examine your roof. This helps us to know the condition of your roof, and whether there is damage or is good to go. 3. Signing final documents for installation, once everything is clear to go, we will provide the final documents to sign. Next up is solar panels! Info: mnrenewablenow.org.
SolStar is now accepting applications! The SolStar (Rooftop Solar) program is specifically designed for North Minneapolis property owners, setting it apart from the Affordable Solar Program. This initiative offers solar panels at a deeply affordable cost to Northsiders, with the goal of supporting wealth growth and maintenance for residents, while also addressing racial equity. We’re proud to create a solar project that is dedicated to empowering the North Minneapolis community. If you would like to learn more email: solar@mnrenewablenow.org.
