Saturday, September 7 saw the return of the Battle of the Badges BBQ at North Commons Park. The Minneapolis Police, Minneapolis Fire, Minneapolis Park Police and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s departments joined together to put on the People’s BBQ and “battle” to see which groups were the best grill masters.
This was the 8th Battle of the Badges event, and there was free food, music, lots of give aways, three bouncy houses and other fun things to do. The tasting judges included Mayor Frey, Lisa Clemons from A Mother’s Love Initiative and Reg Chapman from WCCO. After the judges tasted everything, they declared the Hennepin County Sheriff’s team the winners! Our State Senator Bobby Joe Champion presented the trophy to Sheriff Dawanna Witt who was happy to accept it since MPD has won the last few times.
