The Camden High School Mural

“We’re in the final weeks of the first phase of the Camden High mural which will be installed on the north side of the school. It has been a very creative process thus far. The mural is being created on parachute cloth. This is a process that you can create the mural indoors and install it on the wall outside,” said Charles Caldwell.

As stated in the Camden News articles of July and August, this 30’ x 60’ mural will embrace history, scenes, and symbols of cultures of students, residents and wildlife of the Camden Community and school.

The group went on a field trip arranged with Kelsey McNabb of Camden High School’s Beacons Boys and Girls Club. This picture was taken in front of the mural on the wall of Kemp’s Dairy on West Broadway where students learned of art techniques from artist Caldwell. We traveled to the Mississippi River where it runs through the Camden Community. The mural group observed the wildlife, including the rookeries of blue herons and white ibis. Mural artist Alis also completed a full size painting of a Great Blue Heron by student mural artist Alis. This painting will be part of the Camden High School mural.
