Patrick Henry High Foundation has changed its name to Camden Patriots Foundation

The Patrick Henry High School Foundation Board voted unanimously to change its name to the Camden Patriots Foundation.  This change became necessary when the Minneapolis School Board voted to change the name of Patrick Henry High School to Camden High School. The school is located at 4320 Newton Avenue North in the Camden Community of Minneapolis.

The Camden Patriots Foundation was founded as the Patrick Henry High School Foundation when it was incorporated on September 24, 1999. The mission of the foundation is to enhance the learning environment of Camden High School and expand educational opportunities for students. The foundation is a public nonprofit charity that provides higher education scholarships to students, support for school academic programs, and funding for extracurricular activities.

The school has decided to retain its nickname the Patriots and its school colors of scarlet and grey. Dave Berger, Foundation President, acknowledged the importance of this continuity when he stated, “By changing our name to the Camden Patriots Foundation, we commemorate the new school name and honor the long history of the Patriots on the Northside since 1926.” Ron Anderson, Foundation Vice President, recognized the significance of the name change when he commented, “Our new name embraces the values of the Camden Community by symbolizing progress, unity, and inclusivity for future generations.”

The official effective name change for the school and the foundation was Monday, July 1, 2024.
