Local poet and performer Joe Davis brings forth his newest book: Unearthing Us

I have known Joe since he moved here from Minot North Dakota years ago. I have witnessed him lead students, young people, community, elders, schools, events and churches in their journey of discovering spiritual creative gifts amongst the harsh realities of our current culture. I have witnessed his deep devotion to love for every human he encounters. His commitment is creating spaces full of joy and radical acceptance. Joe recently just published his latest poetry collection, Unearthing Us.

Unearthing Us: Poems and Practices for Discovering Our Fullest Selves is a collection of 21 poems and practices inviting readers to envision a world planted with possibility, growth and flourishing. Each poem includes an Unearthing Practice that draws wisdom from the poet’s visits to his ancestral land of Jamaica. These poems and practices beckon readers to dig deeper into ourselves and our communities to grow more joy and beauty within and around us.

This book has three sections: Plant – Poems for planting seeds; Grow – Poems for growth; and Flourish -Poems for cultivating abundance.

Coming Soon: Unearthing Us Facilitator Guide, written by Rev. Dr. Jia Starr Brown. This content will help you have meaningful discussions about Joe’s poetry as well as help guide you to connect to your own community. This content is endlessly flexible and can be used as a 10-minute addition to a lesson or 21 weeks of hour-long sessions.
