Lind Bohanon Neighborhood gathers for info and fun

Northside neighborhood updates are published monthly in the Camden Community News. This article is specific to my attendance at the annual meeting for my neighborhood association.

The 2024 Annual Meeting and Social for the Lind Bohanon Neighborhood Association (LBNA) was held on Thursday, May 9 at Camden Social on Lyndale Ave. After 11 years living in the neighborhood, I have to admit that this was the first time I attended a meeting. I was very pleased with the board members and the speakers.

The LBNA Board Members were introduced. Many of the current board members are new to the role within the last 1-5 years. From the comments made by board members, they wanted attendees to know that this board is a cohesive unit and will work hard to make progress on valid initiatives.

Our Fourth Ward Councilmember LaTrisha Vetaw also attended the annual meeting. She was very excited to share the news about the traffic blockages due to long railroad crossings. The update was to report that the crossing surveys done on Lyndale, 45th, and Humboldt Aves provided valuable information for the improvements the residents would like to see. There was one incident when all three streets were blocked for two hours — consider the public risk when emergency vehicles are needed and can’t reach the location quickly. She also encouraged residents to reach out or visit her between 1-4 p.m. on Fridays at her Camden office, 4205 Webber Parkway.

Other topics presented at the meeting were from the Park and Recreation department. And LBNA gave info on security improvement rebates available to residents, and loans for seniors that will be forgiven if the senior continues to live in the home for five years after the loan is issued.

Special thanks to Council Member Vetaw,  Ariah Fine, Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, The Camden Social, and the Lind Bohanon Neighborhood Board of Directors. Information on the LBNA can be found at lind-bohanon.org/.
