Loring Community Elementary School had their annual Read-A-Thon during the months of March and April. The Read-A-Thon is hosted by the Loring Parent Empowerment Group/ PTA and is a fundraiser that promotes literacy, and raises funds for classroom supplies and academic activities. The funds raised help to provide classroom enrichment, pay for buses for field trips and fund our top-notch Schoolyard Garden/Kid’s Cook program!
The Read-A-Thon started with the Lunchtime Kick Off Pepfest in which Principal Ryan Gibbs led games and staff dressed up as the Cat in the Hat and Bookie the Book Worm! Over the next four weeks students read, recorded their minutes and received prizes!
Loring would like to extend a huge thank you to the Loring community for the support that we received for the Read-A-Thon! Thanks to the overwhelming support from our Loring families, ViNA neighborhood association members and area businesses, we were able to meet our fundraising goal of $10,000!
