Construction update, and traffic improvements to come

For residents that have been frustrated during the road construction that started last summer in the Camden and Victory neighborhoods, the end is in sight.  The Osseo Bridge work is done and it looks wonderful!

  • The road work was completed late in 2023.
  • The pedestrian sidewalks, the dedicated bike lane and the landscaping were completed earlier this year.
  • The street work south of the bridge from Victory Memorial Drive to Penn Avenue is next, and is on target to be done by the end of 2024.

This construction project brought high visibility to the challenges that the residents face with trains blocking multiple intersections through the Camden Community News neighborhoods. While the closed bridge made a difficult situation even worse, there is good news for those that commute on Lyndale Avenue across the railroad tracks near Webber Parkway.

On March 15, Fourth Ward City Council Member Trisha Vetaw updated Ward 4 residents that we will have Train Delay Warning signs posted on Lyndale. See the Ward 4 bulletin below for the exciting news.

Hello, Ward 4!

Train Delay Warning Signs are going up!

Train delay warning signs are being installed on Lyndale Ave N at the intersections of 41st Ave N, 45th, and 49th.

These signs will flash when a train is coming so drivers can decide to take an alternate route. This is an intermediate solution for addressing the regular rail crossing blockages. We are still collecting data, so we can apply for infrastructure dollars for a more permanent solution.
