Hub for nonviolence

On November 14, the group Nonviolent Peaceforce, which is an international organization, held a grand opening for their local group’s Hub for Nonviolence and Safety on the southeast corner of Lowry and Penn. Nonviolent Peaceforce will co-locate and collaborate with other violence prevention, violence intervention, and community safety organizations in the hub.

One of those organizations is the 8218 Truce Center, which already has two locations in St. Paul working with youth. The 8218 in the name stands for 8 to 18, the ages of the youth they work with. The Truce Center is a place dedicated to helping young people navigate their differences, giving kids a safe space to go after school, to get something to eat, find help with resources, etc. Parents are able to sign their kids up to be part of the Truce Center now.
