Folwell Park preferrred draft plan

The project team for the newest round of Folwell Park improvements has been busy reviewing community input from more than 300 people last spring and summer.

Now the team is ready to share a preferred concept plan for improvements based on that feedback. They held a community open house on September 19 at Folwell Recreation Center, 1615 N Dowling Ave. to review the new preferred draft concept and share feedback.

The concept plan and opportunities to share feedback are now available on the Folwell Park improvements web page at minneapolisparks.org. Take the survey now through October 6.

Recent improvements at Folwell Park and Recreation Center: Thanks to funding from the 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan the Minneapolis Park Board has made a number of other improvements at Folwell in the past several years, including: New playground; renovated tennis courts; new lighting for the west athletic field; updates and replacements to the recreation center kitchens, craft rooms, restrooms, roof; accessibility improvements for the parking lot, sidewalk leading to the recreation center, and center entry; and new path connecting the courts and playground.

Some improvements at Folwell Park and Recreation Center were funded by NPP20. This long-term initiative helps address racial and economic equity across 160 neighborhood parks and provides $11 million annually to maintain, repair and replace facilities.
