Residents got a chance to get rid of their household hazardous wastes on August 11 and 12 at the Henry High parking lot, thanks to Hennepin County Environment and Energy. This saved folks a drive to Brooklyn Park to get rid of all their ‘bad for the environment stuff’! Last year’s event was the most successful in Hennepin County with about 650 residents turning in more than 35,000 pounds of household hazardous waste!
Hennepin County organizes collection events throughout the year to give residents more convenient local disposal options for their household hazardous wastes. This year folks got rid of everything from electronics and appliances to paint and furniture/mattresses, and yes hazardous waste!
If you missed the event you can always get rid of waste at the Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County Recycling Center and Transfer Station, 8100 Jefferson Highway. For what’s accepted and hours visit hennepin.us/green-disposal-guide/drop-off-facilities or call 612-348-3777. Photo by Randy Klauk.
