Farmers markets opening for the season

The first spring farmers markets have opened, kicking off the 2023 season. The Minneapolis Farmers Market and the Farmers Market Annex opened April 29 with the Midtown Farmers Market and Mill City Farmers Market following on May 6. The other 13 farmers markets and mini-markets open over the next several weeks.

So head on over to the main Northside market: West Broadway Farmers Market, it opens June 17 and runs through October 14. Its open on Fridays from 3-7 p.m. at the Capri Plaza, 2027 West Broadway Ave N. Dancing Bear Chocolate, 4367 Thomas, has a Sunday market, open June 5-October 15 on Sundays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. To find other markets visit minneapolis.org/food-drink/farmers-market/.

Shopping at farmers markets is an easy way for everyone to get healthy, local food on the table. The Market Bucks incentive matches up to $10 worth of coupons per day to customers who use SNAP benefits to buy eligible food at participating farmers markets. Participating markets are noted in the farmers markets map and downloadable list on the City website.

Homegrown Minneapolis also offers other ways to get healthy, local food on the table. Homegrown Minneapolis is a citywide initiative expanding our community’s ability to grow, process, distribute, eat and compost more healthy, sustainable, locally grown foods.
