Celebrating 70 years!

Longtime Minneapolis residents, John and Ennies Fountain celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary May 24, 2023. The couple met at a local movie theater where John worked, they have been together ever since. Ennies lived in Hope Hull and John lived in Fort Deposit Alabama, they would catch rides with family or friends to see each other on the weekends whenever possible, often John walking most of the distance to be with his love. They were married May 24, 1953 at the ages of 17 and 19 in Montgomery, Alabama. Over the decades John and Ennies have had many adventures together.

They moved to Minnesota in 1968, they have 11 children, 41 grandchildren, and 50+ great grandchildren. And they have fostered countless children in their home over the years, and many more who call them mom and dad.

The couple celebrated their 65th anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony (see photo). The blushing bride finally having the wedding of her dreams. She is forever the homemaker and he, the provider, his life endeavor has been to make her happy, and she to make a happy home. They are long time members of the Northside at 51st and James Ave., serving as loyal members to their church and community. They celebrated their union and forever love, with a dinner reception May 28 at New Oil Christian Center church at 4055 Thomas.
