Attached is the photo of Steve Kozicky, Aron Kozicky and Noah Kozicky taken July 7, 2022 at Porter Field at Patrick Henry. The plaque was taken off the old flagpole base that was dedicated in October of 1946 during the senior year for my father Walter Kozicky. The old base and flagpole were removed because of deterioration over the years and it gave the option of installing the new flag pole a little closer to the concession stand, making way for additional track and field events on Porter Field.
The old plaque was installed at the base of the new flagpole. Being in the weathered and worn condition it was, all three of us decided to give it a facelift with the help of the American Legion North Side Post 230. The Post paid for the materials and cleaning supplies needed for the facelift. Post 230 was present back in 1946 at the dedication and was instrumental in getting the original flagpole, base and plaque installed.
The second photo from the 1947 Orator yearbook shows the old flagpole and base at the October 1946 dedication at Porter Field.
