Do the thing – Recycle

Recycling is worthless? You may have heard that from some media outlets – but it’s a fact that we need to recycle.

City of Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling customers should watch in mail for guides that include a collection schedule for the year; ways to create less trash and reuse what they already have; and a catalog of what belongs in garbage carts, recycling carts and organics carts. The guides also have instructions for setting out large items and managing household hazardous waste.

A searchable disposal guide on the City website shows the best way to dispose of household items. The Minneapolis Solid Waste, Recycling and Organics Facebook group answers questions on how to get rid of an item. Recycling reminder emails go out every other week with: A reminder on recycling day and reminders for holiday and seasonal changes; upcoming events to reduce waste, reuse what people already have and drop off household hazardous waste; and fun facts about recycling and composting.
