Wendy’s House of Soul finds a new home at North Market

Chef Wendy

You can now “get souled” at a new Northside location. Wendy’s House of Soul reopened at a new Northside location on January 16 – find it now at the North Market.

After losing her lease in December of last year chef Wendy Puckett was able to find a new location in the North Market located at 4414 N. Humboldt Avenue N. The North Market consists of a full service grocery store, complete with a bakery, deli and meat market that includes products from Kramarczuk’s sausages and other local products.

Wendy’s House of Soul had served the Harrison neighborhood originally from a location launched in a shared space with K’s Grocery and Deli at 1825 Glenwood Ave. N. She later moved to her Harrison location, and while attempting to buy the spot her landlord told her the lease would not be renewed.  December 28 was the last day at her restaurant and kitchen located at 825 Glenwood Ave. where she had been open since 2020. She had already been thinking about future collaborations. One such contact was Sammy McDowall of Sammy’s Avenue Eatery. He was able to help her find a new location in the North Market where you will find Wendy’s House of Soul located right next to the produce section on the south side of the store. You can find Wendy doing what she loves in her favorite place, the kitchen.

Wendy Picket has over 20 years of experience in the catering, and food and beverage business. Her best-known product is the signature “Soul Roll.” Wendy says, “Soul Rolls were a way to trick my kids into eating the proper amount of daily vegetables.” Wendy’s love of music and food is depicted in her brand “You’ve Been Souled.”  Pucket says, “You just keep going. You just keep pushing. One door closes and, like, three or four have opened for me.” She said resiliency and her faith are keeping the doors open.

At Wendy’s House of Soul foodies can choose from a variety of soulful dishes including Wendy’s signature classic and deluxe Soul Rolls, soulwiches, salads and chicken wings.
