Last fall the Minnesota Housing Commission made changes to the HomeHelpMN program after recent trends showed foreclosure rates and manufactured home evictions are rising for those impacted by COVID-19.
To address these trends, they lifted the application deadline, increased the assistance cap from $35,000 to $50,000, and will now accept past-due expenses incurred before January 21, 2020. Folks can now apply for assistance anytime.
HomeHelpMN has received nearly 5,000 applications from homeowners throughout the state. They estimate there are up to 25,000 income-eligible homeowners who may need assistance but have not applied.
