Metro Transit and the community celebrated the opening of the METRO D Line on December 3. Metro Transit thanks the communities around the D Line, Route 5 riders, and anyone impacted by construction for their patience during two construction seasons of this exciting new transit line.
Now that major construction on D Line stations is complete, there are some other tasks that need to be done at the station areas. Staff and crews will complete key final steps to finish the station areas so they are ready for customers and for D Line service. These tasks include: Installing railings; connecting electrical; shelter/platform lighting; adding heaters; connecting fiber optics; installing station technology; emergency telephones; adding security cameras and NexTrip signs; installing fare collection equipment; and completing safety certifications.
