The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra continues to celebrate 12 years of partnership with the Capri with their next Northside Series concert featuring Principal Oboist, Cassie Pilgrim, in a performance of Bach’s Oboe Concerto. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 26, at the Capri, 2027 West Broadway. Tickets are free for Northside residents, and advanced reservations are encouraged. Call 612-291-1144 or visit thespco.org and enter your zip code in the promotional code box to reserve your free tickets. Tickets may also be purchased for $15 at thespco.org.
In addition to Bach’s Oboe Concerto, the program includes Pēteris Vasks’ Fantasy for Violin and Strings, Vox amoris (Voice of Love), and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Nonet. These three seemingly disparate composers share something in common: the skill of portraying character through music – from the pastoral calm of 17th Century German composer and musician, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Oboe Concertos; to the universal voice of love portrayed by the violin in Vox amoris (Voice of Love) by 20th Century Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, and finally, the gradual ascension up the steps of the home of the Muses to soar above the heavenly plains of Nonet, by 19th Century English composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.
Join us for this exquisite music played by extraordinary musicians in the intimate setting of the new Capri. You’ll be glad you did.
