Summer Camp Capri for middle school-age scholars

Summer Camp Capri is the Capri’s super summer arts immersion program for middle school-age students. This program runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday, from July 5 to August 6, in-person at the Capri. Performances will be held on Wednesday, August 4 and Thursday, August 5. Participants must have completed grades 5-8 in the 2020-21 school year. The program is free, and enrollment is limited to 25 (a waiting list will be formed once capacity is reached). Registration is open now at thecapritheater.org.

Students will explore theater, dance, music, the written word and the visual arts with Director Dennis Spears, and some of the best teaching artists in the business including Greta Oglesby, theater; Diane Robertson, dance; Chico Perez, percussion; Julie Acton, arts and crafts; and Kimberly Keaton, music.

The Summer Camp Capri play selection will be announced soon on the Capri’s Facebook, Instagram and web pages. Please note, too, that the Capri follows all current Stay Safe Minnesota COVID guidelines for entertainment and meeting venues (staysafe.mn.gov/industry-guidance/entertainment.jsp).

“We’re doing a few “soft open” events this summer to test all systems in the renovated, expanded Capri,” said Capri Director James Scott. “Our Summer Camp Capristudents will be the first group to perform a play in front of a live audience in the space, and we can’t wait to see them light up the room. It will certainly be a highlight of the summer here at the Capri.”
