Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra presents Dvořák’s Bass Quintet and Start the Music! Wondrous Woodwinds

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, in partnership with the Capri Theater, opens its 10th season of concerts in North Minneapolis with two events, October 25 and 26, at Sanctuary Covenant Church, 710 West Broadway. Sanctuary Covenant serves as the alternate location for SPCO @ the Capri programming while the theater is closed for construction this season. Directions to Sanctuary Covenant are available at sanctuarycov.org or  612-692-6575. All Northside SPCO performances and childrens’ events are free for Northside residents.

The first event, at 7 p.m. Friday, October 25, is a one-hour chamber music concert featuring Dvořák’s Bass Quintet, Valerie Coleman’s Fanmi Imen for Flute and Piano (inspired by the poetry of Maya Angelou) and Septet for Trumpet, Strings and Piano, by Camille Saint-Saëns.

The second event, Start the Music! Wondrous Woodwinds, begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 26. This program is designed especially for children ages 3-6 and their families. Music lovers of all ages are invited to join in crafts, games and activities, followed by an SPCO woodwind ensemble’s accompaniment to a reimagined fairy tale in a 30-minute concert, hosted by theatre artist Theo Langason.

Northside residents may register for free tickets at thecapritheater.org, thespco.org or the SPCO box office, 651-291-1144. Tickets ($15 for adults) may also be purchased at thespco.org or by calling the box office.

Be ready for magnificence. The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra is widely regarded as one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world, and is nationally recognized for its commitment to broad community accessibility and innovative audience outreach efforts. The SPCO/Capri partnership has attracted new audiences for both organizations and the series is now an established and treasured asset of the Northside community.
