Music and storytelling go hand-in-hand when the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra presents Start the Music: Spirited Strings! for children and families at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13 At the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway. The event is free but tickets are going very quickly and should be reserved in advance to guarantee admission. Reserve free tickets at thespco.org or 651-291-1144. Walk-ups will be welcome based on space availability.
Audience members at Start the Music will meet three members of the string instrument family: the violin, viola and cello as they help tell a reimagined version of the classic children’s story, The Three Bears, hosted by Lorena Duarte. Duarte is a poet, playwright, performer and speaker with a passion for fostering personal expression, social justice and creative innovation. She was born in El Salvador, raised in Minnesota and educated at Harvard University.
Start the Music is a musical experience geared especially for children ages 3-6 and their families. Music lovers of all ages are welcome to join us for crafts, games and activities, followed by a 30-minute concert.
This is the perfect way to introduce young listeners to classical music. Parents, grandparents, neighbors and friends are encouraged to bring little ones to see and learn about music in this smart, fun and totally delightful way. It will be a magical morning at the Capri!
