What is Shingle Creek Neighborhood Association?
The Shingle Creek Neighborhood Association is a nonprofit 501c3 organization representing the Shingle Creek neighborhood. Its mission is *to be a voice of the community, *to advocate and promote the Shingle Creek neighborhood, *to improve neighborhood livability and economic opportunities, *to involve and empower residents and *to promote the safety and health of our community and its residents.
We meet monthly. Discuss ways to achieve our mission through its work. Make decisions and through our resident and collaborations help this community. SCNA has provided hundreds of books for Jenny Lind School, youth program support at Olson, Jenny Lind, Creekview Park and Patrick Henry. We’ve contracted with the city to help provide a home improvement loan program that has served over 300 local residents, supported local senior and disabled residents in the community and by supporting Shingle Creek, Kingsley Commons and Camden Care Center. Host community building events and help cohost or sponsor community-wide events like Holiday on 44th and Northside Housing Fair to promote North Minneapolis as a great place to live work and play! Planning for the future beyond 2020 is the work now. We welcome diverse voices, ideas, energies to help find solutions to meet the ever growing needs in the community.
