In regards to the letter to the editor in the June Camden News about changing the name of Patrick Henry High, I agree with Mary Rice. I did not go to Patrick Henry but I know how she feels.
In these high tech times we flatter ourselves on our judgments of the past. But unless you can get into a time machine and travel back to early America you have no real idea how life was then.
We as a people should focus on the epic problems we have now. Instead of pulling down statues and changing school names we should read history. Regrettably slavery has been with us since time began. And sadly even some African kings and chiefs sold their own people into slavery.
It would be better to spend our time trying to come up with ideas to end school shootings.
