On Saturday, December 9 young scholars and their parents lined up outside of the gym at Patrick Henry High School in the wee hours of the morning for a special treat right on time for the holiday season. Patrick Henry partnered with “Free Bikes 4 Kidz” to provide bikes and helmets to those in our community who needed them. The partnership between Henry High School and Free Bikes 4 Kidz provided 420 bikes to kids in the community.
There were a number of components working together to make this event a success from the coordination of Tia Martinson and Ashley Pethan who work at “Free Bikes 4 Kidz,” to the logistics management of Chris Fleming, Black Male Achievement Coordinator at Patrick Henry, to the adult and student volunteers. Junior Keng Thao from Patrick Henry said, “Being able to volunteer today was awesome. It was so cool to see the smiles on the faces of all of the kids and their moms and dads.” Patrick Henry is looking forward to this amazing partnership next year.
