North High’s football team ended a great season 10-1, but unfortunately didn’t make it to the state championship game this year. On the cold November 10 night, with the wind chill in the teens, North lost to Caledonia 38-0 in the State Quarterfinals.
This was the fourth year in a row that Coach Adams and the Polars had made it to the state tournament. This year they had moved up from Class A to Class AA. The week before, North played a hard fought game in four inches of snow to defeat Maple Lake 44-30 to win the Section 4AA final game in Monticello. North had ended their regular season 8-0 and for the third straight year were the Twin City Red District Champions.
These North Polars were selected to the State 4AA Section Team: Omar Brown, Nasir El Amin, Tayler Johnson, Phaizon Scott and Odell Wilson. Tayler Johnson and Odell Wilson have also been selected to play in the 2017 Minnesota Football Showcase (formerly called the All Star Game), which will be played December 3 at US Bank Stadium.
The Polar players and coaches are already looking forward to the beginning of the 2018 season in nine months.
