SCNA reviewing results from Robust Community Engagement at September 12 meeting

What has the community been saying? Did we hear you right?

SCNA has been reaching out to the neighborhood and been collecting information from residents, the community and our partners asking two questions: “What makes a neighborhood great?” and “What does this neighborhood/community need?” as part of our robust community engagement efforts.

Historically, SCNA’s focus has been driven by residents and the City of Minneapolis programs of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program and the Neighborhood Community Relations Department program stated statutes, guidelines and criteria. SCNA has focused on Housing, Social & Environment, Crime and Safety, and Business planning and zoning efforts in our neighborhood. However, a commitment for future funding for neighborhood organizations across the city has yet to be identified beyond 2020. SCNA is listening to identify the current needs and develop the best plans to help meet those needs for residents and SCNA moving forward.

Your feedback is critical to helping us determine our work and the funding focus for the future! We invite you to come and help review the preliminary results and clarify what our neighborhood’s diverse population and voices of Shingle Creek residents are saying!

Mark your calendars for the Tuesday, October 10 Neighborhood and Board Meeting where a final review and plan will be presented and voted on! Be watching the newsletter for more details.
