As concerned citizens of Camden, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the U.S.A., it is time we stand up and demand that our government takes the initiative to protect global democracies from cyber hackers. In April we learned that former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn may have broken the law by not disclosing business dealings with Russia and that Russia-linked hackers tried to meddle with the elections in the U.S. and France.
Senator Amy Klobuchar has said for months, the hacking problem isn’t about one candidate, one political party or even one country. It’s about protecting all democracies around the world. The U.S. needs to take the lead and name an independent commission, and confirm a special council with investigative standing to get to the bottom of Russian interference in France’s recent election and our 2016 election.
We Camden citizens have to stand up for democracy and make sure political hacking in democratic elections never happens again.
