The World War I era — 1914 to 1919 — was a transformational time for America. The nation emerged as a confident global superpower while deep divisions and conflict at home threatened to tear the nation apart.
Randal Dietrich, World War I specialist at the Minnesota Historical Society, and organizer of an exhibit opening at the History Center in April 2017 on the 100th anniversary of America’s entry into WWI, will be speaking about the ‘War to End All Wars’ on the Tuesday following Armistice Day.
Dietrich has spent over 15 years in history education. His areas of previous research and education were Minnesota in the Civil War, Minnesota Greatest Generation (WWII) and the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk. Randal also organizes adult educational experiences in history through MNHS Prime.
Save the date for World War I America, on Tuesday, November 15, 6-8 p.m. at North Regional Library, 1315 Lowry Avenue N.
This is the third of four historical speakers in the 2016 Camden Community Historical Society speaker series. Questions? Contact Eric Nystrom at camdenhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
