SPCO chamber music series at the Capri

The St. Paul Chamber orchestra (SPCO) is bringing another season of extraordinary chamber music to the Capri Theater beginning with A Joyful Noise at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 10. Program your calendars now, and plan to be thrilled by three amazing concerts performed by SPCO’s world-class musicians.

Thursday, November 10, 7 p.m.: A Joyful Noise featuring Wynton Marsalis’ Quartet No. 1 from At the Octoroon Balls. Marsalis’ At the Octoroon Balls draws from Creole music the composer heard growing up in New Orleans.

Thursday, February 16, 7 p.m.: Mendelssohn’s Octet for Strings. The program will include selections from Carl Nielsen’s Wind Quintet and two youthful works of Felix Menddelssohn: String Quintet No. 1 in A Major and Octet in E-flat for Strings.

Thursday, March 16, 7 p.m.: Across the Channel featuring William Waltons’ String Quartet in A Minor, Claude Debussy’s Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp and Andre Caplet’s Conte fantastique for Harp and String Quartet.

Free ticket reservations for A Joyful Noise on November 11 will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis beginning October 10 at thecapritheater.org. Tickets may also be purchased for $15 or $33 for the three-concert Capri season (guaranteed, general seating admission) at thespco.org or 651-291-1144. The Capri is located at 2027 West Broadway.

“We invite everyone to join us this season as we celebrate the seventh year of our partnership with SPCO,” said Capri Director James Scott. “We are so fortunate to work with this organization that makes their stunning classical music performances accessible to all – a true gift to our community.”
