Hard of hearing?

Did you know we have a “hard of hearing, deaf, and cochlear implant social club” right off of Victory Memorial Drive?

The actual name of the group is the Hearing Loss Association of America, Twin Cities Chapter, and it meets the third Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to noon, September thru May, at the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, 3915 Golden Valley Road.

Our goal is to provide information, education, support and advocacy to others with hearing loss.

We meet on the second floor meeting room, which has looping T-coils — that helps produce better sound for your hearing aids. We also have a large screen so you can read every word spoken, and we have hearing interpreters if needed. There’s always time to ask questions and exchange ideas. And there is a social time before and after the meeting – with treats.

Excellent speakers provide a wealth of information on all aspects of hearing loss including laws passed benefiting folks, demonstrations on new equipment of aids and units for the home, etc.

There is also a monthly newsletter with more info; mail inquiries to MCAA Twin Cities Chapter, PO Box 8037 Minneapolis MN 55408.

On Saturday, September 24 at 9 a.m. we are holding our annual Walk 4 Hearing race at Lake Calhoun (near the beach).  For details call 763-447-9692.

It’s an informed and enjoyable group – come and check us out.
