Neighbors rally against violence

Vigils, rallies, and marches… the community has been publically calling for an end to the senseless gun violence on the Northside. All too often lately the victims of the violence that has happened on the Northside have been innocent people caught in the crossfire, including a grandmother and children. Organizations like United in Peace, Face 2 Face, Mad Dads and other groups have all been asking the community to put down the guns, and to speak up and tell who has been shooting. Even the students and staff at Lucy Laney School went to the site of the shooting death of a two-year-old to have a moment of silence and leave flowers and notes.

If someone doesn’t feel safe talking to the police or wants to remain anonymous they can tell Kay Wilson of United in Peace, 612-816-9410; V. J. Smith of Mad Dads, 612-822-080; Anthijuan Beeks of Face 2 Face, 612-702-9849; or a local minister or other trusted community person.
