The bridges on 49th Ave. N / Humboldt and Queen and 52nd and Penn are undergoing repairs and will be closed for up to five weeks. Start date was the week of July 25.
These are bridge improvement projects. Improvements include performing concrete deck repairs, milling and placing a low slump overlay on the bridge deck, and replacing the approach panels and the expansion joints. Additional pavement on both ends of Queen Ave. bridge will be milled and overlaid. The work on both bridges will be done simultaneously. Find project details on the Minneapolis City website.
The 49th Ave. bridge was constructed in 1963 and the Queen Ave. bridge was constructed in 1962. The items being replaced have reached the end of their useful life, and these improvements will extend their useful life for many years.
