First Thursday Films @ the Capri presents the documentary film, The World Has No Eyedea, directed by Brandon Crowson, at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5 at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway. Tickets are $5; purchase in advance at mspfilm.org or at the door the night of the show.
The film chronicles the life and death of underground hip-hop legend and multi-genre indie music artist, Micheal ‘Eyedea’ Larsen. Larsen was a freestyle battle rapping champion, a guitar player, a breakdancer, the lead singer in a punk band, a poet, philosopher and a supportive friend to many. He passed away on October 16, 2010.
DJ Ability, Larsen’s friend and musical partner, wrote in City Pages five years after Larsen died: “What did we lose? We lost a friend, a communicator, an artist. A person with a rare passion plus the talent to match. A thinker. A ridiculously witty and funny individual. A man with genuine empathy and caring for the human condition. A visionary and brilliant mind. We lost someone great.”

The World Has No Eyedea played to a sold-out premiere audience at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival in April. Craig Rice, curator of First Thursday Films for the Film Society will lead the post-film discussion.
