Cookie Cart, the North Minneapolis nonprofit bakery employing Northside youth, is offering customers a sweet deal on their specially decorated Valentine’s cookies and traditional flavor varieties. The decorated cookies are sugar cookies frosted with icing depicting a Valentine’s theme. The Valentine’s cookies are regularly priced at $2 each or $16 per dozen and customers will receive $2 off an order of a dozen or more by using the coupon code “LOVE16” when purchasing online or in person at the bakery.
Valentine’s cookies from Cookie Cart are a sweet alternative to flowers and are sure to bring a smile to recipients who will enjoy their delicious taste. And buyers will feel good knowing they are supporting the enrichment and empowerment of Northside teens by making the purchase. The bakery will deliver cookies anywhere in the Twin Cities Metro for orders placed by February 10.
Cookie Cart creates decorated sugar cookies throughout the year, including those with a holiday motif and custom-decorated options. The traditional cookie varieties include chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle, M & M, chocolate chocolate chip, ginger snap, peanut butter and coconut toffee. The traditional cookie varieties are $1 each or $10 per dozen. Cookies may be purchased in the bakery’s retail space, by phone at 612-521-0855 or online at cookiecart.org. Cookie Cart is located at 1119 West Broadway Ave. Bakery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Cookie Cart employs and empowers urban teens by providing them with lasting and meaningful work, and life and leadership skills through experience and training in an urban nonprofit bakery. The bakery was founded in 1988 by Sister Jean Thuerauf who years earlier had begun baking cookies with the neighborhood teens and helping them with their homework in her North Minneapolis kitchen. The bakery opening was the realization of her dream to provide a safe, secure, creative and engaging space for area teens. In 2010 the organization served 100 teens and now, following an extensive 2014 renovation, Cookie Cart’s Minneapolis location serves 200 teens each year. For info visit www.cookiecart.org.
